A man named David Barton had made an arrangement with his wife and daughter to stage his own death, and to spread the news, his daughter posted a heartfelt message on social media.
The post read: “Rest in Peace Daddy, I cannot stop thinking about you. Why is this life so unjust? You are going to be a grandfather soon. You had your long life before you. We love you. We will not be able to forget you.”
The post caught the attention of friends and relatives, who later attended the funeral.
Those present were taken by surprise when Barton arrived by helicopter. Stepping out, he cheerfully addressed the mourners, saying, “Hello everyone, welcome to my funeral.” Some of the relatives expressed relief and hurried to hug him, but others remained bewildered and disapproved of the prank.
Barton explained his motives, expressing dissatisfaction with how his loved ones, siblings and cousins had treated him. Feeling undervalued and excluded from family events, he wanted to teach a life lesson and show that people shouldn’t wait until someone is gone to start appreciating them.
