A swim instructor in Tampa, Florida, managed to calm down a crying toddler by using a special phrase, and it touched the hearts of the adults present so much that they started crying too. When a little girl bravely said, “I’m big, I’m brave, I’m boobooball,” it really struck a chord with everyone.
Learning how to swim can be quite scary for children. They are being asked to jump into the water, which is unfamiliar territory for them. Plus, swimming pools can be dangerous, so it’s natural for them to feel overwhelmed by fear.
Fortunately, there is something called the “mermaid mantra” that can help in such situations.
Tyler Reed, the owner of Triton Aquatic Training, became an internet sensation after teaching this mantra to a toddler who was struggling during swimming lessons. The mantra goes like this: “I’m big. I’m brave. I’m beautiful.”
Reed encouraged the little girl to repeat the mantra, and even though she was crying, her sweet voice managed to say, “I’m beeg. I’m bave. I’m boobooball.”
That “boobooball” part is just incredibly adorable and heartwarming.
