A girl from Massachusetts, who is 12 years old, is being praised for saving her twin brother’s life. The incident took place during lunchtime at their school cafeteria. While eating, the boy, Charlie, began choking on a piece of cheese, causing him to panic. Surveillance footage shows Charlie gesturing to his mouth for help while the other students hesitated. However, his sister, Amelia, immediately came to his aid.
Despite not knowing exactly what to do, Amelia performed the Heimlich maneuver by embracing her brother and applying pressure to his abdomen. The Heimlich maneuver is a technique used to assist people who are unable to speak, cough, or breathe due to choking. Following a few thrusts, Charlie successfully expelled the cheese from his throat. The twins’ mother, Christy Ruth, expressed her gratitude towards Amelia for her quick thinking and emphasized the importance of children looking out for one another.
