A Cincinnati barber has stolen the hearts of many with his selfless actions towards his community. This kind-hearted man offers free haircuts to any special needs child in the area, under his program called GIFTED. However, it is the bond he has developed with a seven-year-old named Ellison that has caught the world’s attention.
Ellison is a vibrant boy who has been diagnosed with Down’s Syndrome and has undergone three open-heart surgeries. Despite the challenges that come with his condition, Ellison never lets it get him down. It was not long after meeting Ellison that the barber, Vernon Jackson, noticed his infectious energy and wanted to make sure he felt comfortable during his haircuts. Vernon gave Ellison a simple set of instructions that turned into a hilarious game, which has since gone viral on TikTok.
The video shows Vernon giving Ellison a haircut, and at any point that Ellison needed a break or wanted him to stop, he was to say “stop” and then “go” when he was ready for Vernon to continue. Ellison turned this into a game, and the two were laughing uncontrollably, creating a heartwarming moment that captured the world’s attention.
Ellison’s mother, Julie Eubanks, expressed her gratitude towards Vernon and hopes that this will help people see that everyone is unique and wants to be included.
