This American veteran, who served during World War II, reunites with the French woman he fell in love 72 years later…

A 97-year-old American veteran who had served in World War II was visiting France for the D-Day commemoration when he encountered the 92-year-old French woman he had fallen in love with while there. They were reunited after 75 years and were able to recognize one another, demonstrating the reality of true love.

The 18-year-old French girl who lived in the town where the soldiers were stationed during the war was in love with the American soldier. KT Robbins, a soldier in the American army, was only 24 years old at the time. He fell in love with 18-year-old French girl Jeannine Ganaye the moment he saw her. In 1944, this occurred in the town of Briey.

When Robbins wanted his clothing laundered, the two had a chance to talk. The boy’s clothes will be washed, according to Jeannine’s mom. They fell in love the moment they laid eyes on one another. However, Robbins was forced to depart for the Eastern Front two months later in order to take on the Axis powers. She was informed that he might bring her along when he returned. The fact that he would eventually depart for the US without her hurt Jeannine a great deal.

She learned English because she believed he would come get her. Robbins from the 26th Infantry, First Division, on the other hand, afterwards served at the bakery battalion and came back to the US by himself.

He met his future wife, Lillian, there, and the two were married for 70 years till her passing in 2015. For the next 50 years, the two collaborated in a Mississippi hardware business. Regarding Jeannine, she also wed another person in 1949. She later gave birth to five kids.

Robbins never forgot the French woman he fell in love with. For seven decades, he would keep her photograph. He displayed the image to French reporters asking him questions. If she was still alive at the 75th anniversary of D-Day, he hoped to locate her and her family. He had doubts about whether she would be alive.

In a retirement community barely 27 miles from her hometown, where the two originally met, journalists discovered Jeannine. After 75 years of living apart, the couple’s reunion was an emotional one as they looked into each other’s eyes.

Robbins assured her that she had been in his heart forever and that he had always loved her. He explained that he had gotten married and was unable to return when she questioned him why he had never returned. Robbins had to depart after spending a short while with them to attend another event in Normandy. However, they made a commitment to meet again. After 75 years apart, the rendezvous concluded with a first kiss.
