In contrast to their customary practice, meteorologists weren’t expected to give any breaking news when a dramatic event occurred right in front of Ian Cassette.
In Orlando, Florida, Ian works for Fox 35. About 30 minutes into the journey, he was on Spirit Airlines Flight 1691 from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to Orlando, when he heard a disturbance a few rows in front of him. Help was needed since a young mother’s infant had stopped breathing.
In order to save 3-month-old Anjelé, the flight crew issued an announcement asking for medical staff to report to the front of the aircraft. For several excruciating seconds, Ian and the other passengers waited, hoping that someone qualified could assist.
For more than 20 years, Tamara Panzino has worked as a nurse. She was really hoping there was another doctor or nurse on board because she claims she’s “not one to jump into drama.” However, she realized she had to act morally when nobody else did.
Tamara started by massaging the infant’s legs and chest while giving her oxygen. Anjelé eventually started breathing on her own again after a few agonizing seconds.
Tamara subsequently told Ian, “When you have to step up and do what’s right, you do it.” It was just a happy story, and I felt great after hearing it.
The baby’s father raised her up so that everyone could see how happy and content she was before they disembarked on the flight to Orlando. Tamara’s contribution to the successful outcome was praised by the entire plane during the outburst of shouts.
Ian spoke with Anjelé’s parents after they had landed; they were still reeling from what had happened.
Ian posted on Twitter that the parents of three-month-old Anjelé “were horrified and had never experienced this before.” They applauded the wonderful vibe on the plane and Tamara’s bravery for saving the woman.
He also praised the flight attendants for maintaining their composure in such a testy circumstance.
