Except for Aretha herself, very few people can sing an Aretha Franklin song well. There are some of the top vocalists in the world among them. This is why Destiny Chukunyere from Malta chose “Think” by Aretha as her audition song for the 2017 season of “Britain’s Got Talent,” which didn’t exactly please Simon Cowell. This was going to be a very difficult challenge for her to do at the age of only 14.
Because of the pace, the words, and the variety of notes, this song is incredibly intricate. One of the hardest tunes in musical history is this one. Destiny, though, didn’t back down. She was prepared to rise to the occasion and demonstrate to everyone how seriously she took her singing career.
It didn’t take long after the song was over for her to realize how the audience had responded to her performance. Standing ovations from the audience and all of the judges signaled their appreciation for the performance.
Simon just had kind comments and no unpleasant remarks to say about her. Even going so far as to say he had waited a long time to see someone who he thought could genuinely be a star, he paid her some of the highest accolades. and how he eventually located that individual.
It’s not surprising that all four judges gave her audition a “yes.” All smiles as Destiny gracefully accepted her promotion to the next level.
Destiny is a really gifted young woman. Nobody else could do this Aretha song as well as she did. Her singing career is unquestionably taking off. It will be amazing to watch how far she progresses. Check out the video and see this excellent performance. It’s an opportunity you won’t want to pass up.
