In an open video below Tom Hanks’s son reveals how his parents “crashed” his life and how complicated it was to grow up in his family…

Chet Hanks, the son of actor Tom Hanks, has opened out about his “difficult” upbringing, implying that having famous parents isn’t always as glamorous as it seems.

Growing up with such well-known people in his family, one could say that his life hasn’t always been a bed of roses.

In a video he released on his YouTube page, Chet Wilson, the actor Rita Wilson and Forrest Gump star’s son, said that while he “loves his parents” and “wouldn’t want any different parents,” he lacked a “strong male role model” when he was a youngster.

He claimed that because of his famous parents, many people had “contempt” for him and that he wanted someone to tell him, “Hey, bro, f*** these people.” Simply put, they are envious of you.

According to Hanks, “My experience was even more complicated because I wasn’t even famous, on top of fame already being toxic.

“You know, I wasn’t even doing anything to deserve any sort of recognition, I was just the son of somebody famous, and it produced a lot of scorn, a lot of contempt for me,” he said.

Hanks continued, “Even though I really wasn’t,” people just assumed I was a terribly haughty, entitled pampered brat while my dad was “on this pedestal.”

People would have opinions about me before they had an opportunity to get to know me, and it was very difficult to get past their barriers. As a result, he continued, “I encountered a lot of contempt, a lot of hatred, and a lot of negativity because everyone was just prepared to hate my guts.”

Due to the ‘rage’ he was harboring, he eventually developed a ‘chip on his shoulder’ and a ‘hard exterior’.

“People kind of f***ed with me a lot while I was growing up, added Hanks. “It was never in front of me. It was always done behind my back, in the form of s***-talking and gossip.”

He claims that after embarking on “a path of self-destruction” in his 20s, he “doesn’t have anything to prove” any longer.

Hanks continued, “It took me a while to understand that people were jealous and that’s why I was dealing with all this hate.”

He denies being a “timid youngster who just wanted to fit in and keep out of the spotlight, because if I had been, I wouldn’t have been a factor.”

However, he also acknowledged that he had a privileged upbringing and that he was “fortunate” to have been born to well-known parents.

There are many benefits, but occasionally things might get strange, he said.

“I got to do a lot of fun stuff that not many other people get to do.

“I’m really fortunate to have had the opportunity to travel the world, stay in luxurious hotels, and fly on private aircraft. I wouldn’t alter my circumstances.
