At the age of 76, Stephen Hawking, a famous theoretical physicist, passed away at home in Cambridge, England.
The thinker overcame all obstacles and produced important scientific contributions to the world that will be highly appreciated for centuries to come despite having ALS, a motor disease that crippled his body at the age of 21.
Hawking wrote the international best-seller A Brief History of Time in an effort to discover the “theory of everything.”
In his book, he stated that “our goal is a thorough comprehension of the events around us, and of our own existence.” He might not have been able to provide all the answers, but he has inspired future thinkers to look for those solutions.
The Theory of Everything, a 2014 biographical film starring Eddie Redmayne as the great intellect himself, was motivated by his absolute preoccupation with space and time while battling an incurable illness for more than 50 years.
On Twitter, renowned astronomer Neil deGrasse Tyson also praised the cosmologist:”His passing has left a void in intellectual life. It’s not empty, though. Consider it as a form of immeasurable vacuum energy that permeates spacetime. Stephen Hawking, 1942–2018, r.i.p.”
The physicist and Oscar winner Redmayne spent a lot of time together before his passing, and Redmayne has also offered his condolences:
“A truly magnificent mind, a remarkable scientist, and the funniest man I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting have all passed away. I’m thinking of and sending my love to his incredible family.”
Hawking has provided a wealth of knowledge to help us understand this cosmos, but it’s his most recent doomsday prophecy that has everyone talking.
Humans won’t be able to survive on Earth for very long, according to Hawking. Before it’s too late, we need to find other planets to colonize in order to ensure our survival.
He stated in the latter part of 2017 that “this exponential growth cannot continue into the next millennium.” The world’s population would be stacked shoulder to shoulder by the year 2600, and the amount of electricity used would make the Earth light brightly.
“Such a system could pass Voyager in less than a week, pass Mars in less than an hour, reach Pluto in days, and reach Alpha Centauri in just over 20 years,” he added.
Although some people may find this concept absurd, it is actually not so absurd. Elon Musk, the CEO of SpaceX, wants to transport people to Mars in less than ten years.
