Because he was discovered having an affair with Monica Lewinsky in 1998, Bill and Hillary Clinton’s marriage has always been the subject of intense scrutiny. Everyone voiced their opinions because, well, he was the President of the United States at the time, and it was a very public controversy. Now, 24 years later, Hillary is having the final say on her marriage.
Hillary talks about her “gutsiest” experience with Rev. Whittney Ijanaten in her new Apple TV Plus series Gutsy, which also stars daughter Chelsea and dialogues with influential women from all over the country. Some people who have been in a similar situation in their relationships may be able to relate to the eye-opening discourse that was hinted at in the trailer. “Your marriage has always been on display for everyone to see. Ijanaten questions, “You stated the bravest thing you ever did was stay in your marriage. That doesn’t mean that’s right for everyone, the former secretary of state adds while nodding in accord. Mic go off!
She is arguing that even if it was the right choice for her, she shouldn’t be dictating how other people handle having an affair while still married. Many relationships would have ended the instant the indiscretion was revealed, and that is also acceptable. When Bill Clinton was campaigning for president in 1992 and those annoying Gennifer Flowers accusations were following him, Hillary offered America a hint as to how she felt about her marriage.
She appeared on 60 Minutes after the Super Bowl and outlined her opinion on their relationship to the audience. She remarked, “You know, I’m not just sitting here with some tiny woman standing by my man like Tammy Wynette. “I’m here because I love him, respect him, and honor everything he has gone through and everything we have done together. And if that’s not enough for folks, don’t vote for him, you know.
According to Bill Clinton’s detractors, who claim that his indiscretions were numerous and even predated the Monica Lewinsky scandal, Hillary should have ended the relationship long ago. We don’t know what the political couple discussed behind closed doors, but they wanted to be together whether it was for love, politics, or business.
