We frequently hear that becoming a parent will alter you, but until we step into that role, we can’t fully appreciate it.
Motherhood has made Anne Hathaway rethink her decisions in order to be the best parent to her three-year-old son Jonathan Rosebanks, whom she shares with husband Adam Shulman.
The extremely quiet Princess Diaries star typically avoids divulging specifics of her private life, although she has occasionally been known to give up a little bit more when it comes to parenting.
Hathaway recently said that she has chosen to give up drinking for the benefit of her kid, who requires her to be present “all the time,” when appearing on the Ellen DeGeneres Show to promote her new movie Serenity.
Although many people are participating in Dry January, Hathaway is committing to this for much longer than most.
Hathaway claimed, “I stopped drinking back in October, after 18 years.” Because I don’t quite love the way I do it and he’s getting to the age where he really needs me all the time in the mornings, I’m going to stop drinking while my son is at home.
Hathaway admitted that there have been times when she hasn’t been proud of herself for being sober while having to handle serious matters, like dropping off her kid at school.
She admitted, “I just made one school run, dropping him off at school one day. I wasn’t driving, but I was hungover and that was enough for me. I wasn’t a fan of that one.
The Oscar winner also recalls spending the previous night intoxicated with her co-star Matthew McConaughey and his wife Camila Alves in Mauritius before having to endure an early morning meeting with the director of her most recent film.
We had a wild night of drinking, and the next day I had to meet with our director Steven Knight. I was kind of – have you guys ever had to go to a meeting hungover? She said, “I was just kind of bumbling in with one eye open,” before addressing the audience.
Hathaway joins a growing group of celebrities who have made a commitment to live sober lives in order to lead better lifestyles.
Celebrity mothers like Jennifer Lopez and Natalie Portman have all given up booze, and we’re starting to believe that’s why they always appear to be aging more slowly.
Permanently avoiding happy hour has wonderful health benefits, such as better sleep, better cardiovascular health, cleaner skin, and more vitality, in addition to saving you from unpleasant hangovers.
