Twins have a very close kinship. In the womb and throughout life, twins share experiences such as birthdays, first days of school, and other significant milestones. According to a recent viral video, some twins are so close that they even develop their own secret language and communication system.
Two identical baby girls are shown in the sweet video lying next to each other on a bed. They soon start talking, the twin on the right gurgling and clutching her sister’s hand. After a time, the young girl on the left begins to coo along and encircles her sister’s hand with her fingers.
Although the twins’ baby speak is beyond our ability as adults to grasp, viewers of the film have their own ideas about what the two adorable children are discussing. One commenter makes fun of them, joking that they are talking about the 4-month-old twin boys down the street, while another surmises that they are complaining about their new feeding regimen.
Despite my lightheartedness, studies have shown that identical siblings share an unbreakable link. According to Very Well Family, twins frequently get a psychic feeling that “something is awry” when one of their siblings is going through a traumatic event or is physically hurt, such as having a heart attack. Twins have also been demonstrated to have similar tastes in things like food when they are apart.
Evidence of the development of personal languages between twins is also shown in an article from the American National Library of Medicine. According to the study, autonomous language, idioglossia, or cryptophasia develops in 40% of twins. The majority of these independent languages between identical twins disappear with time, but it appears that the two little girls in the video are creating their own means of private communication.
