The beautiful thing about toddlers is that they generally get along with everyone and don’t hold back. And friendliness is not limited to people. Toddlers typically get along well with everyone, including animals.
Isaiah is no different. Daily learning increases for toddlers. Isaiah discovered the value of friendship when he was escorted to the Columbus Zoo. A video of Isaiah with Kamoli the gorilla was published online by the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium. As he took in all the zoo had to offer, his eyes began to shine. Watching a toddler notice things they’ve never noticed before is nearly magical. As soon as Isaiah sees the baby gorilla, you can see him begin to laugh.
He just so happened to be the same height as Isaiah and was standing right near to the glass. Isaiah then began to approach him by moving to the side. He clearly desired the gorilla to become a buddy. Kamoli was equally interested in Isaiah. They began to interact since they were so similar to humans. After making eye contact, they turned to face one another. Kamoli didn’t want to or did not turn away. He wasn’t actually alone because his mother was monitoring him from a limb above.
From behind the barrier, Kamoli began to play peek-a-boo with Isaiah as the two of them pursued each other. Kamoli would shift to the other as soon as Isaiah moved to one side. Isaiah’s parents could be heard giggling and encouraging them. Isaiah’s mother told The Columbus Dispatch that when the couple finally decided it was time to leave because they were exhausted, he replied, “Bye gorilla.”
