The daughter of Antonio Banderas and Melanie Griffith has applied to have her name officially changed.
According to court documents, Stella Del Carmen Banderas Griffith, 25, is removing the suffix “Griffith” from her name.
Stella Del Carmen Banderas would be her new stage name.
“I just want to get rid of the extra last name to reduce my name. Additionally, I rarely refer to myself or write my name as “Griffith” on documents or in other contexts. Therefore, eliminating the name would be consistent with how I normally use it, she says in the documents.
In Marbella, Spain, on September 24, 1996, Stella was born to her well-known parents. She is also Dakota Johnson’s and Alexander Bauer’s half-sister from Melanie’s unions with Don Johnson and Steven Bauer, respectively.
Melanie and Stella just spent time together as they celebrated Melanie’s birthday, so the name change does not seem to have been done maliciously. At the San Sebastian Film Festival, she also noted Stella and Antonio on the red carpet.
