When Gordon Blakeslee found out that someone had stolen his lawn mower, he did not want to buy another one and did not want the money to do so either. He wants the one he had before restored.
“I’m 85 years old! I can’t push”
According to WBNG, Blakeslee, 85, made the decision to live with other members of his family during his quarantine rather than staying at his home in Harpursville, New York.
However, at some point over those few months, his red Craftsman lawn mower from 2009 went missing.
Candace Blakeslee, who is Gordon’s daughter-in-law, said that everything that he possesses, including his belongings, has value to him. “That was something that was precious to him,” she said.
Gordon was so determined to locate his lawn mower that he made a sign and placed it to the fence in his front yard.
Candace posted a picture of him on Facebook in the hopes that someone would recognize him and provide either the information or the lawn mower they were looking for. However, after nearly a week of searching, they were still unsuccessful.
Gordon said, “I want it returned to me.” “When my wife was still living, I would exercise here for hours on end. It was where I did all of my workouts.”
Kind people couldn’t help but wonder how they might assist Gordon after his story made it into the local press, despite the fact that Gordon said he didn’t want a GoFundMe page or a new lawn mower.
The next day, Candace returned with some very exciting news to report. Gordon was the recipient of a brand-new Craftsman lawn mower, which was bought by an unknown donor. Even if it’s not a 2009 model, it’s still the same model.
His house was visited by a deputy from the Broome County Sheriff’s Office, who delivered the vehicle.
It would seem that he appreciates the exceedingly kind gesture that was extended to him.
That is just incredible, isn’t it? It breaks my heart to think that someone would steal from a man who is 85 years old, but it makes my heart happy to know that someone else bought him a new lawn mower.
