Gerard Piqué, a Spanish footballer, and Shakira, a Colombian pop diva, have announced their separation.
Shakira, a Colombian singer, and her longtime boyfriend, Spanish player Gerard Piqué, are divorcing.
“We hate to inform you that we will be splitting up. We want respect for (our) privacy for the sake of our children’s safety, which is our top priority. Thank you for your patience and understanding “On Saturday, the couple released a joint statement.
The 45-year-old singer and the 35-year-old FC Barcelona defender have two boys together: Milan, who was born in 2013, and Sasha, who was born in 2015. They’ve kept a place to live in Spain.
The two first met 12 years ago, when the footballer appeared in Shakira’s music video for “Waka Waka,” the 2010 World Cup’s official song. On YouTube, the video has received over 3.1 billion views.
Shakira claimed in February that her “poor spouse, slash boyfriend, slash baby daddy” and her “poor husband, slash boyfriend, slash baby daddy” argue on punctuality because of their distinct upbringings.
“Because Colombian time is not the same as Catalan time, which is Spanish time,” she explained on “Planet Weirdo with Holly H.”
