Our society, on the whole, undervalues the homeless population.
Nonetheless, the homeless are humans just like the rest of us, and many of them are extremely gifted. When he sat down at a street piano in this video, one homeless man dropped people’s jaws. He has a dirty beard and shaggy hair, but when he starts playing, it’s like a bolt from the blue and utterly fantastic.
It’s been said before, but we’ll say it again: the world is full of examples of why you should never judge a book by its cover!
Donald Gould, a former US Marine, is the man in this video.
His life story is a tragic one. Despite the fact that the video was posted in 2015, individuals who have followed his progress believe that he is now in a much better place. He struggled with drugs and became homeless after his wife died in 1998. For the past ten years, he has been living on the streets. He plays the piano on a public sidewalk in this video. Anyone can play that public piano in Sarasota, Florida, as part of an art initiative.
People came to a halt and stared at him as he sat down and began to play.
We believe that, based on his appearance, people expected a hostile or aggressive man, not a talented pianist. The event serves as a reminder that prejudices abound in the world, but there are always exceptional people who can persuade us otherwise.
His abilities are obvious!
Many people have said that he has magical fingertips, and his performance has left the internet in awe. The nicest part of the video is when a man sits next to him, a child in his lap, and they both continue to appreciate the music of this man.
Even still, when he man answers a simple question, your heart will fall.
When questioned about his daily routine by an interviewer, Donald simply stated that he enjoys “making a few tips and making people happy.”
This response is both amazing and tragic because the homeless maestro offers a lot of delight to others while still carrying his own burden of problems. It’s a great example of music’s power and how it can protect a lot of people from breaking apart.
We believe that additional public spaces like this, with an instrument or other types of entertainment for oneself and others, should be available. Gould is a stunningly talented woman with a beautiful, unassuming demeanor.
Gould, it turns out, is currently under contract with broadcast networks!
Fortunately, Gould’s life was changed by this video, and he is now under contract and working on new projects.
“Walk on Water,” his debut album, is now available on Amazon. His appearance has altered dramatically; he now has a fresh haircut and appears to be happier and healthier than before. It’s almost unbelievable, but this man has found the salvation he so richly deserves, and it’s a big source of motivation. When we think about this narrative, we realize that everything happened because a piano was resting on a sidewalk! It simply goes to show that we can only rise by lifting others.
This gifted individual is live proof that everyone may be given a second opportunity and that we should never lose hope. We hope he stays on the right track, and we hope to see him succeed and be happy on a larger stage.
