A kind female cat discovered two little newborn squirrels in the yard and adopted them as her own.

“My cat saved two newborn squirrels from the yard many years ago.” “I became a wildlife rehabilitator because I wanted to help them,” said Mary Cummins of Animal Advocates.

“My last home had an eight-foot fence around the entire yard. I had a cat door that led to the outside. Mimi brought in one baby at a time. “My other cat Boots tried to steal the newborn, but Mimi defended “her” baby,” Cummins explained.

“I’m sure Mimi heard another baby outside, but I didn’t hear anything.” Mimi went out and fetched it, bringing it inside and placing it in her kitty bed with the other baby.”

“She took after the infants, held them close to her, and made sure they were cherished until Cummins could find a local rehabber to accept them.”

Both newborn squirrels were delivered to a rehabber and eventually released back into the wild.”
