This rescue cat who is still recovering has become a rescue kitty…

Russell the cat was fortunate enough to survive a house fire two years ago. Despite having third-degree burns, he has spent the last two years assisting the staff at the Animal Emergency Hospital & Urgent Care in North Carolina in caring for other animals.

He encourages other furry buddies and will not stop unless a member of the staff tells him to.

After two years of treatment, Russell is still recovering.

The cat enjoys being in the company of other animals.

“I’m not sure if he can detect pain in other animals… but he does seem to have a strange talent for bonding with patients.”

“Most cats are distant and independent, but he enjoys being with other animals.”

“It’s not just about him.” He enjoys sharing his company with people.”

Russel may never fully heal, but as a permanent resident at the facility, he has found a new purpose.

“He’s a rock star in this town.” Everybody is eager to see him. We’d be delighted to maintain him as our mascot.”
