Officer Jason Smith of the North Kansas City Police Department was driving his squad car when he noticed a little kitten stuck in the center of six lanes of fast traffic on a highway barrier.
Smith got out of his car and picked up the kitten from the traffic barrier without hesitation. When he approached the terrified little kitten, he said, “Here kitty kitty kitty.”
The kitten was terrified and scratched the police when he placed her in his passenger seat. Fortunately, he employed a soothing voice to calm the kitten and assist her in settling down.
He then took the kitten to a nearby shelter, where she was treated and washed. The kitten was saved thanks to the helpful officer. But the narrative did not end there.
No one claimed the kitten as theirs after a few days at the shelter. Smith returned to the shelter to adopt her as a result of this. Bella was the name he gave the kitten when he brought her home.
Officer Smith’s son, Joshua Smith, said, “Bella has been a perfect fit for our home ever since the rescue.”
Bella appears to be content and secure in her new forever home. “Bella gets along with our two rescue dogs and another rescue cat when she wants to,” Smith explained. “Every day, she becomes more and more at ease with them.”
When the Smith family had to say goodbye to a cat named Mocha, they were heartbroken, but Bella brightened their life.
“Since then, something had been missing in our house,” Smith explained. “Having Bell in our lives added an extra layer of love that we had been missing.”
