By clinging to a car’s exhaust pipe, a little kitten appeared to have caught a ride from Blackpool to Merseyside.

Olaf was discovered dangling from beneath a Land Rover 45 miles from home on a residential street in Rainhill, near St Helens, covered in dirt and terribly traumatized.

Fortunately, the 12-week-old kitten was microchipped, allowing Harvey’s Army, a pet reunion charity, to reunite him with his overjoyed owner.

“I was approached by a lady who reported her husband had discovered a cat clinging on underneath a parked Land Rover near their house,” said Paul Flynn, a Harvey’s Army volunteer in Liverpool.

“When I arrived, it was entirely grey due to the grime.” All we know is that someone traveled from Blackpool, possibly to meet a family, and clung to the underbelly.”

“It was incredible,” he continued. I couldn’t believe it at first, but when you see the muck it was covered in, you can’t see how the cat got there any other way.

“The Land Rover’s owner is unknown to us.” It’s unusual for a kitten to be microchipped, but when it beeped, we discovered it was registered with a Blackpool veterinarian.

“So they contacted the owner, who was ecstatic because it had been lost for several days.

“The couple who discovered Olaf said he was shaken at first but recovered after being given food, drink, and a blanket.

“Because the owner is unable to drive, one of our volunteers, Laura Mayren, drove her from Rainhill to Blackpool and returned.”

“We’re overjoyed that we were able to help them reunite.” It just goes to demonstrate how critical it is to get your pets microchipped as well. We wish Olaf all the best in the future.”
