A 2-month-old kitten named Talleyrand was discovered in a storm drain. Unfortunately, she was paralyzed, with no mobility in her back legs or tail.
X-rays revealed that she had a fracture in her L3 vertebra and that her spinal column had shifted.
The kitten was thankfully rescued by Humane Rescue Alliance, who refused to give up hope.
Talleyrand began acupuncture treatment and has since regained feeling in her hind feet and tail, as well as movement. She couldn’t urinate or defecate on her own before this procedure, so personnel had to express her bladder.
She’s also getting electroacupuncture, which helps to activate the nerves and boost the acupuncture treatments’ effectiveness.
Tallyrand began to improve a little over a month after starting the therapy.
She took her first steps toward a regular life as a cat, and she is expected to be able to walk again soon.
She can now get in and out of her litter box on her own and is making incredible improvements.
