Because her cat constantly steals her neighbors’ underwear, an embarrassed cat owner recently issued letters of regret to her neighbors.
Pumpkin, the pesky feline, has been bringing home a new set of underwear every day on a knicker nicking binge.
And the three-year-old cat is now officially in the doghouse for stealing her neighbors’ underwear in broad daylight.
“This week alone, I’ve had ten pairs of knickers (all the same size and make), two bras, and two pairs of tights,” said owner Zoe Davies, 44.
“The whole affair is funny to my children and friends.”
“However, I’m at a loss for what to do; I considered putting an honesty box outside – but I can’t put underpants outside my house.”
The clothes are always discovered in the morning – and the family is alerted by Pumpkin screaming after she brings something new home.
“I’ve had T-shirts, socks, gardening gloves, tea towels, leggings, men’s jeans,” Zoe, from Fairwater, Cardiff, said.
“She delivered me a pair of underwear one week, then the matching bra a few days later, which I thought was rather remarkable.”
Six of Zoe’s neighbors received letters describing what was going on and asking whether they wanted to be reunited with their underwear.
Because they are all the same size and make, she suspects the naughty haul is coming from the same house.
No one, however, has claimed the variety of underwear and other clothing.
Pumpkin never returns anything with laundry pegs, so Zoe believes she isn’t stealing them from clotheslines.
She believes she enters homes through cat-flaps or open windows left open owing to the hot weather.
“Don’t worry, there isn’t a cat burglar out there — it’s just Pumpkin on the prowl,” Zoe concluded.
