In Tasmania, Australia, an 8-week-old kitten was discovered totally smeared in oil inside an oil drum.
Rescuers are still unknown how she wound up in a barrel of motor oil in a factory, but she was extremely fortunate to be discovered by workers who heard the tiny animal.
Her rescuers realized her weakness right away and attempted to wipe some of the viscous substance from the kitten. They did everything they could to help, but they felt she required immediate attention, so they committed her to the Longford-based Just Cats Tasmania.
After consuming a hazardous amount of the oil in which she was submerged, this little one became critically unwell, leaving the volunteers unclear if she would survive.
Fortunately, the small kitty was adamant about surviving and proved to be far more powerful than she appeared at first.
She made it through the worst of the situation and was no longer in critical condition only a few hours after arriving. Staff at the shelter were so impressed by the little girl’s inner power that they gave her the name “Sila,” which means “strong” in Slovak.
After battling all odds to survive, this brave kitten proved to be more than deserving of her moniker. Sila is now waiting for a loving family to adopt her as her everlasting home.
