Mathieu Patry was riding his bike one day when he noticed some sort of commotion near the trail he was on. He went to investigate faint sounds coming from a nearby bush.
After locating the sound, he discovered a tiny kitten that was unlike any other tiny kitten he had ever seen. He couldn’t even imagine what would happen next.
Mathieu discovered the kitten wasn’t a typical home cat after taking a closer look. “It reminded me a little bit of a lynx,” he says. “His eyes, ears, and tail were all different.”
For a while, Mathieu hesitated before deciding to abandon the kitten. He assumed the mother will show up and search for her child at some point. He had left his house, but he couldn’t get his mind off of it.
Mathieu returned to the area where he had left the baby lynx first thing in the morning, and it had remained alone! Mathieu took it home and made a cute new acquaintance because it was obvious mommy never returned.
They called the zoo for assistance because they had no idea how to care for a wild animal. The professionals trained him on how to properly feed and care for the lynx baby.
A day later, Mathieu returned the little cat to the caretakers, who informed him that it wasn’t a newborn after all. It was so small because it was struggling to get food and survive in the wild, but now that he’s in good hands, he’ll be able to catch up. The kitten will be cared for at the zoo before being released into the wild when it is ready.
Let’s hope the adorable baby lynx finds happiness in the outdoors once it’s recovered.
