Many people feel they have a guardian angel, but few people realize they are the guardian angel of someone else.
That’s exactly what happened at a local tire business in Commerce City, Colorado, as strange as that may sound.
A customer at a local tire shop heard desperate meowing outside on a frigid Colorado day.
The noise seemed to originate beneath a parked semi-trailer. The temperature outside was below freezing, and it was difficult to leave the shop’s warmth— yet the terrible cries outweighed the allure of a warm waiting room.
When the customer went to investigate, he discovered a cat dangling from the side of the trailer tires.
Her paws and tail had frozen to the tire, immobilizing her. He didn’t know how long the kitten had been trapped in this dreadful situation, but he knew he had to assist her.
The customer assessed the kitten’s situation and devised a strategy for releasing her without causing her any further distress. He climbed beneath the semi-trailer and splashed warm water on the regions where she was caught, taking special care to keep her warm and dry.
It took over 20 minutes, but it was a success in the end! She was finally free. The client wrapped her in a big blanket and took her to a local rescue, the Denver Dumb Friends League when she was rescued from her cold captivity (DDFL).
She was given plenty of food, kisses, and warm blankets while she was there, as well as a comprehensive physical examination.
Despite her ordeal, the five-week-old kitten quickly recovered and was ready to play.
The kitten’s paws and tail were just slightly injured, according to the vets and volunteers who treated her. She appeared to be in good health. The customer’s valiant efforts were rewarded!
The kitten would have died without the customer’s assistance, according to the veterinarians. She wouldn’t have made it through the night, in fact. The customer arrived barely in time to save her.
Staff from the DDFL will continue to monitor her until she is ready to be placed in a foster home. She’ll be cared for and socialized in a foster home until she’s ready to be spayed and adopted into a loving family.
The customer-turned-hero is ready to become a customer-turned-owner, which is perhaps the most heartwarming aspect of the story. He wants to adopt the kitten once she is ready.
His affection for her didn’t end with the rescue. When she was desperate, he was her only hope, appearing just in time like a guardian angel. He now anticipates creating many more beautiful moments with the tiny bundle of joy he has committed to cherish and protect.
