A Toronto man risked his life by stepping along a tight ledge six floors up to retrieve his cat from the balcony of a neighbor. The man claimed that he had knocked on the door of a neighbor to ask if they might assist, but that they had not answered.
‘My cat was attempting to squeeze back under the glass and almost getting trapped, and I was concerned he was going to hurt himself,’ he said of the event. If he had tried to jump back over, he would have most likely fallen. “I needed to act quickly.”
He decided to take matters into his own hands in order to ensure the safety of his cat. He stepped over his balcony, walked across the building’s narrow ledge, and snatched the cat into his arms.
A witness recorded the incident and shared it on Instagram, where it has since gone viral. The Toronto man can be seen walking down the edge of the building to save his cat in the footage. When I watch him, my heart hurts.
The man has asked for his identity to be kept hidden. ‘I simply wanted to get him back,’ he stated when asked if he was afraid for his life while ascending the structure.
“I’m a cat owner, and I can understand why that man wants to pick up his cat from the neighbor’s balcony,” one admirer wrote on Instagram. In my opinion, he is a hero!!!”
However, due to the dangers involved, police advise that such actions be avoided in the future.
