This stray cat saved from wildfires surprizes people with his behaviour…

After being rescued from wildfires, a feral tomcat astonished his rescuers by deciding to become a surrogate father to three kittens.

The British Columbia wildfires seized and evacuated 18 stray cats and kittens. They arrived at TinyKittens, a Langley, British Columbia-based animal rescue group.

Dee, a kind woman, walked into the evacuation zones and trapped all of the kittens, bringing them to safety.

They placed them in foster care, and it wasn’t long before they realized that one of the tomcats had developed a strong paternal instinct toward several of the kittens. He not only began grooming them, but he also allowed them to “nurse.”

Elliott is a feral tomcat who was rescued from the B.C. wildfires. We’ve never seen anything like it, and it makes us wonder whether this is how Grandpa Mason (a wild tomcat) and his kittens got their start all those years ago. TinyKittens stated the following.

Tomcats aren’t known for their loving and affectionate behavior toward kittens.

“It is physiologically programmed into them to perpetuate their own genetic line, and substituting other toms’ kittens with their own is one way for them to do so.” That’s why Elliott and Mason have caught us off guard.”

Elliott treats the kitties with such gentleness. He makes sure they’re always tidy and puts up with their antics.

The rescue’s objective is to offer medical care, spay/neuter the cats, socialize them, and place them in loving homes.

“If any of the adults remain resistant to socialization, we will place them in outstanding barn homes and follow a stringent rehoming policy to ensure they are happy and adjusted in their new homes.”

Elliott adopted the stray kittens as his own because they were missing their mother.
