Winifred was only about the size of a thumb when she was born.
She was so little that her own mother turned her down in favor of the other kittens in the litter.
Winifred is classified as a micro-kitten, and no one expected her to make it. She was only about half the size of a typical kitten.
She was taken to a veterinary clinic, where Ellen Carozza, a registered veterinary technician, fell in love with her right away.
She took Winifred in as a foster child and provided her with extra attention.
“I was requested to take her on because all of my neonatology work is with the most difficult cases, and I also have an incubator,” Ellen explained.
Winifred would thrust her little tongue out whenever she was happy, Ellen noticed. When she’s happy, she loves to flaunt her little ‘blep,’ as it’s lovingly known in the cat world!
“She knows how to shove her tongue out!” “She’s done that since she was a small baby, and we chuckle every time she does it,” Ellen revealed.
As a kitten, Winifred continued to thrust her tongue out, and she still does it as an adult!
