Sherio’s life hasn’t always been kind to him, but that hasn’t made him cynical or harsh.

Instead, this adorable puppy has chosen to provide stability and comfort to other foster animals.

Sherio understands how frightening it may be to move to a new home; while Sherio today enjoys a warm and caring home, this was not always the case.

He is not only deaf but also partially blind, which has made it difficult for him to find a forever home.

He’s spent time in two shelters, 12 foster homes, and has been adopted four times, only to be returned each time.

But, eventually, he met Sheryl Smith, and in her, he discovered someone who was willing to embrace him for who he was, flaws and all.

Smith had previously volunteered to help animals in need, and when she encountered Sherio, she knew she had to adopt him.

Sherio is overjoyed to have finally found a family who loves him, and he’s been driven to “pay it forward” since being adopted by Smith.

He makes every effort to assist all of the animals that Smith decides to adopt and foster.

Sherio does everything he can to ensure that the animals in need are secure and cherished.

He encourages them with licks and kisses and attempts to be a source of comfort for them.

Smith stated in an interview:

“I rescued a pregnant dog who was too sick to care for her babies shortly after his rescue, so Sherio crawled in with them and began cleaning them.” That’s something he’s done with every rescue I’ve taken in. He’ll just sit with the feral cats/kittens attentively and form such strong ties with them that they trust him before they trust me.”

Sherio’s compassion for the creatures he helps nurture is understandable; after all, he’s been in a similar circumstance. Several times. It has happened far too many times.

Despite the fact that Sherio is safe and sound in his new, permanent home, he still suffers from separation anxiety due to his background.

“He still screams in the car because he thinks he’s being dropped off somewhere else,” Smith revealed.

Smith and her family, on the other hand, are doing everything they can to help him gain confidence.

Meanwhile, Sherio has become a pillar of support for countless animals in distress.

Tiny Tolley, a stray kitten in severe need of care, was recently taken in by Smith.

The sick and emaciated kitten would not have lived if Smith had not taken her in and nursed her back to health.

Sherio, of course, did his bit and remained by her side while she grew stronger and healthier.

Tiny Tolley received a couple huge, wet puppy kisses after she was strong enough to explore the house.

While his kisses may or may not have been welcomed, his affection and presence were.

Sherio has managed to turn his misfortunes into something beneficial rather than allowing them to taint his new existence.

Though he still has anxiety, his love and compassion shine brightly, and he is making a difference in the lives of all the animals who come his way.

We’re very proud of this terrific dog, and we’re so glad he’s found a lovely family who will constantly remind him that he’s secure, loved, and has a permanent place in their hearts and home.
