Meet Rex Manning (or simply Rex), an attractive, loving, and fluffy cat rescued by his owner, Emily Crane. He was a kitten when she rescued him, and he is now roughly eight years old.
Rex enjoys taking walks around his Missoula, Montana home and neighborhood. He enjoys being the center of attention, especially when it includes wonderful behind-the-ear scratching. That’s why he’ll often approach strangers and ask for cuddles.
He spends his days wandering throughout the neighborhood, but he always returns home to his mother at night. “He started requesting to go outside at a very young age,” Crane told. “I’d let him out the back door and keep an eye on him from my second-floor kitchen window.”
Crane has always wondered what Rex did throughout the day for years. But it wasn’t until she saw Rex return home from one of his trips with an odd letter on his collar that she learned more about his existence. She couldn’t stop giggling as she unfurled and read the note.
“Hello!” begins the note. “This is your red-house next-door neighbor!” We just wanted to let you know that Rex has developed a strange obsession with our bathtub and will sneak into our house to sit in it! This is completely OK to everyone in the home because we all adore Rex. We just wanted to let you know in case you were curious about his whereabouts one of these days… He’s most likely in our bathtub.3 “The Red House.”
Crane has never met the neighbors who sent her the note, but she wants to do so soon. As a result, she affixed a return letter to Rex’s collar on his next journey, thanking her red house neighbors for their generosity.
Crane and Rex live in a close-knit neighborhood where she can let her cat run about freely. She’s content because she knows Rex brings a smile to her neighbors’ faces every day.
