The video of a traffic cop in the Chinese city of Putian running into the center of a busy street to save a kitten has gone viral.
Several motorcyclists come to a halt at a crosswalk as a little white kitten quietly walks in front of them.
Yuhe Tan, the officer, then discovers the little animal and hurries it over, snatching it up in one arm, before swiftly fleeing the scene.
Tan later told the Global Times that he was yelled at by a vehicle who said there was a cat.
“I rushed over right away,” he explained.
Many people praised the officer’s actions on social media.
“This traffic cop is amazing; the world needs more individuals like him,” a commenter on the Chinese social media platform Weibo stated.
“I’m sure this officer has a cat at home,” one person said.
