Maria Delk and her husband were kept awake at night by the sound of a persistent meow. “It just kept going on and on,” she tells The Dodo.

“After a long time, my spouse finally went outside.”

She happened to observe a kitten on the sidewalk across the street. There’s only one of them. Her husband was the one who decided to bring the baby inside.

Delk says, “I feared she was going to die.” “It appeared as if her eye had vanished.”

Grace was given to the kitten soon after, and she proved out to be a feral kitten. She seemed to be very content in Delk’s house after a trip to the vet. The cats, on the other hand, continued to arrive.

Delk states, “I’m not a cat person.”

More cats began to appear at their home, and practically every cat appeared to be suffering from some form of illness. Bailey, for example, who just turned up one day. He was suffering from a terrible oral infection.

Delk recounts, “I had to rush him to the hospital.”

Delk went on to explain, “There are probably 15 distinct ones that come.”

“I’ve given them names.” I’m not going to name any of them. I’m attempting to avoid becoming overly involved.”

“Some days I want to close my shades,” she explained, “but I can’t because I know that if I don’t feed them, no one will.”

“I’ve been getting up at four a.m. this week to feed the outside cats and the two kittens,” she explains.

Delk does keep Grace separate,

“I’m not a cat person,! I’m not a rescuer,” Delk insists. “They just keep coming to my house.”

Seems that Maria Delk is a HUGE cat person, despite the fact she claims she is not!
