High school student Payton Dankworth from Ballinger, Texas, has found herself in the unexpected position of becoming the mother of a small little newborn donkey called Jack, and she couldn’t be happier.
It all began a few weeks ago when she received a phone call from a friend who had made a devastating discovery that she couldn’t ignore.
“One day, my buddy went out horseback riding when he happened to come find Jack,” Payton said to Bored Panda. “His mother was unable to take him, so he phoned me and asked if I would be interested in attempting to keep this tiny animal alive. He was very malnourished and not doing well at all at the time. So I replied affirmatively, promising to try my best!”
Sadly, the adorable donkey was in critical condition, and it was unclear whether or not he would live at all. “The first night was the most difficult with him because we were trying to encourage him to eat and go to the toilet so we could make sure his internal organs weren’t shutting down,” Payton added. Following the first night, he began to drink from a bottle and go to the toilet on his own.”
Given the fact that Payton had nursed this gorgeous animal through that vital phase, the two of them rapidly became attached as Jack adjusted to his new family and environment. And, whether she liked it or not, Payton had become Jack’s mother, despite the fact that she had never previously cared for farm animals.
His behavior changed dramatically and he now enjoys playing with my dogs. Because he is still so young, he now sleeps inside with me, and I feed him a bottle every two hours, after which I take him outside to use the bathroom. Jack will not sleep unless he has my dog with him as well, which is difficult. Instead, he’ll be crying all night.”
It turns out that Payton is the ideal mother, and she’s also found a best buddy in the form of her pets! She really adores them!” Payton shared her thoughts. “I also take them on hikes and car drives together as a group! They just adore it!”
Despite the fact that Payton and her family do not live on a farm, she has grown up in a household with animals and is thus well-versed in caring for them. Jack has lots of space to run about and chase after his puppy companions, which he enjoys doing. “Despite the fact that I don’t exactly live on a farm, we do have a piece of land with other livestock animals on it.”
Even though Payton is away at school, Jack misses her, and she makes certain that she is not absent for an extended period of time. “I stop over to see him during our coke break and during our lunch hour to offer him a glass of water and to communicate. In the meanwhile, when I am in school, he walks outside and plays with the dogs! I believe he has a great deal of joy doing this; he even attempts to play tug of war with them.”
The fact that he doesn’t have any teeth and is unable to pick up the toys makes it amusing to watch.
Jack entered her life, and since then, she has been motivated by his transformation to the point that she has decided to pursue a career in animal care. One need only look at Jack’s joyful and healthy personality to notice how natural it comes easily to her.
