Since he was a kitten, Loki has been devoted to his family, and he has always cherished them — but when his parents brought home his younger brother, he was less than delighted.
“He was terrified of my son when we brought him home”, Loki’s mother, Jessica Davern, said to The Dodo about her children. “If he became aware that the newborn was near by, he’d spring and hurry out of the room.”
Initially, Loki had no clue who this new small human was, and although the infant eventually became used to Loki’s presence, his parents were skeptical that the two would ever become friends.
As Davern was getting her son ready for the day, she happened to peek over at the baby monitor……and was astonished to see Loki sleeping in her son’s bed.
In the middle of the night, Loki was rubbing up against and cooing at his newborn brother, and his mother was pleased to discover that Loki did in fact care for his little brother.
“I was really taken aback,” Davern said. “He usually does it to me first thing in the morning.”
Loki, it turns out, has a soft spot for his younger brother — he just doesn’t sure how to show it all the time. Although it wasn’t tough when the two of them were alone, just hanging out on a calm morning, Davern is hoping to be able to catch more adorable moments on the computer screen in the future.
During times when their parents are around, Loki may continue to act as though he dislikes his younger brother, but everyone knows the reality, and their parents hope that the two will become best friends one day soon.
