Instead of traveling alone or refusing to attend at all, the 18-year-old decided to do what any sensible and sound-minded person would do: he opted to bring his cat, Ruby.
To be fair, he didn’t actually take the cat to the dance, but he did pose with her for some prom photos before he left.
Caroline, Sam’s sister, decided to share the photos with the rest of the world by posting them on Imgur. The rest, as they say, is history, and Sam and Ruby are now internet superstars for life.
