Even though a newborn girl had been abandoned outside in the cold, she managed to survive the night thanks to a litter of pups that came to her rescue and kept her warm.
The baby was discovered in a field in Lormi, a village in India’s Chhattisgarh province. She had been abandoned there.
People in the neighborhood heard her crying and discovered her nestled up with the pups, perfectly uninjured.
It is believed that the pups’ mother was the first to discover the infant and immediately sat down next to her. Her umbilical chord was still linked to her body.
“At 11 o’clock in the morning, we saw that there was a newborn baby girl sobbing and sleeping beside pups in our hamlet,” the villagers stated.
“In a state of worry, we called the health department and requested that the infant be transported to the hospital for a follow-up examination.”
Most likely, the warmth provided by the pups and their mother was what kept this infant alive.
The baby, who has been named as Akanksha, was very fortunate to have lived, since the temperatures dropped to dangerously low levels.
When she was discovered, a department of local government known as the panchayat was notified, and they requested the assistance of the police.
Officers transported the baby to a local hospital so that physicians could check on her health status.
“They are not parents, they are monsters,” a local resident said. When stray dogs are snooping about every now and then in the middle of the night, it is a miracle that any newborn babies survive.”
The police have launched an investigation and are also looking for the child’s parents, who have not yet been located.
