For a young Maine family, a trip to the zoo transformed into a once-in-a-lifetime adventure. They just discovered what the special mother connection meant when they found themselves in front of an endangered Western Lowland gorilla’s habitat. Emmelina Austin, her husband Michael, and their one-month-old baby Canyon headed to the Franklin Park Zoo in Boston for a visit, but they had no idea they were in for a treat. “I never could’ve dreamed we’d have this experience when I stepped into the zoo that day,” the woman told.
The new mother was holding her infant when she saw a mother gorilla through the window. It was Kiki and her 7-month-old baby Pablo, one of the zoo’s most recognized inhabitants. As a result, the mother and her newborn infant came to a halt and stared at her. But suddenly something delightful happened!
Kiki and her baby moved closer to the enclosure’s glass, as did Emmelina. The two mothers then stayed there for many minutes, bonding over their baby in the best manner conceivable. To comprehend this kind of intimate connection, you must first experience it. The whole event was captured on Michael’s smartphone, and the video became viral online.
“My wife brought out our child to present to Kiki,” Michael said in an interview with THE DODO. Then Kiki took Pablo and carried him over to us on her leg. It was an opportunity that came around just once in a lifetime. Kiki was communicating with us via the use of her hands. The tears welled up in the eyes of both my wife and myself.”
