This Maine coon transforms into a deaf sailor’s “ears” to assist with sea… Read on their story here…

Skatty is a one-of-a-kind cat. He’s a polydactyl cat, which means he has extra toes on his feet, and he’s a Maine Coon. He enjoys sailing with his human, Paul, and the two of them set sail on their yacht, La Chica, on a regular basis.

“He opted to accompany me in the cockpit, and he still does,” Paul says. “It was a little strange trying to sail a boat with a small cat that insisted on sitting on your lap, but we made it work.” He relaxed a little after the sails were up, but he still wanted to be with me.”

Despite the fact that Paul is deaf, he does not let his disability stand in the way of his passion for sailing.

Skatty was adopted by Paul when he was 2 months old, and the two of them were soon out sailing aboard La Chica together.

Paul has learned to interpret Skatty’s body language as he sends him visual cues to assist him navigate the water, and the two converse flawlessly.

On board, this adorable feline has a number of crucial responsibilities, one of which is to alert Paul to the presence of other boats.

Skatty places his paw on the phone when Paul gets a text message.

If someone approaches the door, he will place a paw on Paul’s thigh to alert him.

They have a wonderful relationship and are almost inseparable.

What a wonderful life they have together.
