A person’s life in Turkey was affected by the urge to help stray animals. Mert Akkök, who runs a private animal refuge on his farm near Istanbul. His animal refuge accepts stray animals in need of extra love and care, and if you think he simply takes in dogs and cats, you’re in for a surprise.

Mert has over 20 dogs, as well as cats, goats, donkeys, birds, and other exotic animals. Akkök makes it a daily habit to look after all of them, whether they are sick, disabled, or simply homeless when they arrive at his refuge.

As they all live together as one huge family, he makes sure to give each of his animals the additional affection they require.

“On my farm, I have anywhere from 10 to 20 dogs.” I find them in junkyards, woodlands, and rural locations outside of town and rescue them. I strive to find them homes. Some of them have stayed with me for a long time. Especially the elderly and sick. No one wants to take them in. I also have 46 disabled seagulls, 1 blind horse, 3 geese, 3 cats, and a baby donkey that I just adopted. For the time being, I am the proud owner of 23 dogs. The majority of them are elderly or disabled.”

“This is what I was born with.” It’s not anything I’ve decided or considered. It’s more like I’ve developed an instinct. I’m unable to quit assisting homeless animals.”

“You inquired about a deadline for them to stay with me… No, they’ll be here indefinitely if they aren’t re-adopted. And I wouldn’t just hand them over to everybody who expressed interest. They’ve grown up to be like my children. I can only give them to decent and good individuals who will look after them well.”

“So, if you want to contact me, you can do so on Instagram. If at all feasible, please write there). You can ask to adopt a dog from my neighborhood, but not necessarily from my farm.”

“This isn’t my work, nor is it the most important thing in my life.” I’m the proprietor of a small business. My company, which is a consultant for international marketing of healthcare services, is owned and managed by myself. I’m a really busy individual. When I’m not working, though, I spend my time assisting these abandoned creatures.
