The cat in this photo is Steve, a lovely ginger cat who has an unusual following: a flock of lambs!
Steve, who resides in New Zealand, was raised as an indoor cat from the time he was a kitten. During the chilly winter months, Steve’s human Amanda brought her herd of lambs inside to keep them warm, and it was at this point that something very unexpected happened: Steve became really close with all of the lambs in the flock.
The reason for this, according to Amanda, is that Steve “would just kind of grow attached to them and spend time with them inside and then the lambs would migrate outdoors and we began noticing Steve wasn’t inside any longer and we were like “where’s Steve”?”
When they peeked out the window, they realized that Steve was enjoying himself with the lambs. He’s kind of taken on the role of their leader, and the lambs follow him wherever he goes.
Steve has grown to be inseparable with his lambs since then, and the all of them do almost everything together, with the exception of bottle feeding time, when Steve patiently waits nearby until they have completed their food.
