Aoshima, popularly known as Cat Island, is a small, secluded island in southern Japan’s Ehime Prefecture where cats outnumber people 6 to 1. The meal delivery service was halted owing to severe storms. Residents on the island turned to the Internet for assistance in keeping the cats from becoming hungry.

“Please bring cat food to Aoshima,” a cat carer tweeted. “On Aoshima, there are no shops where you can purchase food. People in this area get their supplies by taking a boat to the mainland. In the winter, however, it is quite windy, and boat service is often interrupted.”

The island was overwhelmed with contributions a few days later. The following Tweet says, “Please cease bringing supplies (cat food) to Aoshima.” “We received a lot more than we anticipated, and we don’t have any more storage space.” Until April, we’ll be OK. Thank you very much to everyone.” Feel the Internet’s and its netizens’ power!
