Mochi is an observant cat that, like most children of our age, has a fascination with screens.
Jessica Schleider, her human, was the winner of her passion, which resulted in a fortunate accident.
Mochi has always loved putting herself between Jessica and her work.
“She was instantly captivated with my laptop,” Jessica says.
Jessica, who is now an associate professor of psychology at Stony Brook University, has to apply for funding in order to finish her dissertation study.
She wanted to be certain that everything was in order before applying the funds, so she had put it off until she was certain that everything was in order.
She was plainly nervous about applying for the award and wanted to clear her thoughts before looking through it one more time and sending it in.
So Jessica took her dog for a walk, leaving her cat alone at home. When she returned home and looked at her computer screen, she knew something had gone horribly wrong.
She saw Mochi had returned to the laptop. “I believe she browsed many websites during this specific nap.”
As she examined closer, she saw that Mochi had somehow pushed the submit button!
“I had a little panic attack when I found she had pressed “submit” on the grant application.”
The application had been submitted, and there was nothing she could do to change it.
The results arrived a week later, and thankfully, Mochi’s obsession had paid off. Jessica received her grant because she did the right thing.
