Darwin, the cat, had a traumatic start in life. He’d been deaf since birth, and the vet who’d been looking after him since he was a kitten had given up all hope.
When a woman named Kellen saw him at her local shelter, she recognized he was one of a kind.
The pair is enjoying the time of their life now, 16 years later. Darwin is a very outgoing cat, therefore his mother exposes him to a broad variety of different people and animals.
Despite the fact that he is nearing 17 years old, he enjoys going for walks outdoors and all the attention he receives. “We used to go out more,” Kellen stated to Love Meow, “but now that Darwin is older, his balance isn’t 100 percent anymore, and he has some arthritis, so I’m a bit cautious to take him out as much as I used to.”
Darwin and Kellen were visiting the park one day when they saw an old lady sitting alone. She seemed to be aloof and looking into space. Her eyes brightened up as soon as she noticed the white kitty.
“I told her she could come over and pet him, so she got up, just about as steady as Darwin is (which is sometimes not at all), came over and sat with him. Right away, she was his friend”.
The woman’s name was Lida, and she was 85 years old at the time. Due to the fact that she was originally from Uzbekistan, she had some difficulty communicating in English; nonetheless, she mentioned to Kellen that she used to have a cat similar like Darwin, who died when he was 12 years old.
She missed him with all her heart. That’s why, as soon as she saw Darwin, she couldn’t keep a smile off her face. Both of them seemed to be transforming into their younger selves as they embraced and played, leading Kellen to “choke back tears.”
