Tosca, a shop cat in San Francisco, became an internet star after someone shared a photo of her on Twitter. The image received 183K likes and over 26K retweets in just two days.
“All he needs is a top hat and a monocle!” one person replied, sharing a Pusheen cartoon cat.
Following the internet sensation, San Francisco’s “most fancy looking store cat” was dubbed an internet celebrity by the local news.
So, where did Tosca, the movie star, come from? Ramiz Yousef and his wife Elena Rios adopted her when she was 8 or 9 years old in 2016. They own and operate a natural food and grocery store in a well-known area.
According to Rios, the couple found her at a local animal shelter, and she had already been given the name Tosca, after Puccini’s opera Tosca Libretto. Instead of changing Tosca’s name, they determined it was the best fit for her personality.
“We arrived in Tosca… Rios told SFGATE, “We attempted to move on to the next one, the next cage.” “She got really upset, and she did something like [hissing sound] at Ramiz, and my husband knew she was the one as soon as she did that.” “Right there was a very special moment.”
She’s now always at the shop, attracting customers even if they don’t need to shop. She changes her bow tie on a regular basis to fit Tosca’s mood. Holidays and other occasions are sometimes reflected in them. Tosca appears to regard the shop as her dominion, and the humans are all members of her royal court. Rios and Yousef, on the other hand, refer to her as the “small baby of the home.”

Rios and Yousef, on the other hand, refer to her as the “small baby of the home.” “She stands at the door and spreads her little paws, and everyone knows she stops traffic in front of the door,” Rios added. “We’re overjoyed that she gets to show her love to so many people, that she has such an influence, and that she [gets to make] someone’s day a little nicer every day.” Yousef spotted.
Hopefully, Tosca’s sudden celebrity will help drive more customers to the shop, which is located in one of the city’s last remaining independent shopping districts. The region is famous for its renowned “store cats,” also known as bodega cats, which draw lovers from all over.
The cats assist in a variety of ways, rather than just looking cute in a bow tie.
