Trooper the cat was extremely fortunate, as she was discovered wedged in a wall in the basement of an abandoned property that realtors were attempting to sell.
Alexis Hackney saved Trooper when he was 2 weeks old. Alexis brought Trooper home, where she and her grandmother Sarah Whaley built a particular attachment.
Trooper used to sleep on the grandmother’s bed all the time, and when she died recently at the age of 96, the cat refused to leave it. Alexis said the kitten was constantly sobbing and refusing to eat, indicating that she was clearly upset about the loss of her best companion.
This is one more proof that animals have feelings as well, and that they suffer when one of their favorite humans dies.
