It’s a pleasant finish to a rather depressing story. A wounded mama cat found on the side of the road might not have survived, but she made sure her young did!
“I got home at 6 a.m. after working a double shift.” While walking my dog, she (my dog) sensed something across the street, and I saw a tortoiseshell cat who had been hit by a car resting there. “I figured she was dead, but when I got closer, I noticed she was breathing and moving her head a little,” Ginger stated.
“I brought my dog home, hastily got a cat carrier and a nice towel, and raced her to my vet, where my fiancé (Matt) and I were waiting outside when it opened at 7:30 a.m.
The vet took her and said she’d examine her and determine the best course of action, and she’d phone me later with her decision. They put the cat on a heating pad, gave him pain medication, and gave him a lot of love. The cat had suffered head damage, and the veterinarian assumed she had stomach enlargement and ordered an X-ray, but it turned out she was PREGNANT with two huge full-term kittens! She texted me later, and I started crying. This is a testimonial to a mother’s love, in my opinion.”
The Gulley Park Pets Clinic tried everything they could to help the cat, but they were unsuccessful.
“While that darling mama’s injuries were too severe to overcome, that tough cookie hung in there long enough for us to figure out why. The reason for this was because of these two tiny beauties. We delivered these adorable infants and then consoled their mother, who was finally able to relax. Mama, you did a fantastic job. Ginger and Matt did a fantastic job! “People, there are still nice people out there!”
Charlemain and Jasper were adopted together two weeks later! A really pleasant conclusion!
“My babies are going to make it if it’s the last thing I do.”
