In June, the United Kingdom had one of the hottest weeks of the year, so when a passerby discovered a cardboard box secured shut with duct tape at a bus stop in London, he had no idea what he was in for.
He cautiously opened the box, only to be surprised to find three 11-week-old black and dark tortoiseshell kittens inside.
Fortunately, the compassionate man immediately understood what to do and contacted The Mayhew Animal Home, a local animal rescue organization. Tania Mazzoni, the association’s animal welfare officer, explained: “We don’t know how long they’d been in the box, but they were quite hot and clearly terrified, so we took them to our Vet Clinic right away to be thoroughly examined.”
Luckily, the local veterinarians acted swiftly, and while the kittens were hot and terrified, they appeared to be in relatively good health.
The temperature of the kittens was then meticulously monitored, but the tiny trio appeared to have a very lucky escape from what could have been a very dangerous situation.
Jenny, Jackie, and James were the names given to the lovely kittens by the center’s staff. The Mayhew Animal Home’s Jemma Gillard detailed the situation.
“Jackie, Jenny, and James are all doing fantastic and gaining confidence on a daily basis. They’re sassy and playful, and they adore being the center of attention.”
These little ones are leaping and bounding their way back to health so that they might find their permanent homes.
