Meet Augustus, also known as “Gus Gus.” In Nashville, Tennessee, he’s a gorgeous Persian rescue cat. It’s hard to imagine a cat as lovely and affectionate as Gus Gus who was discovered wandering the streets for months before being rescued! In the story below, his human mom, Madeline, tells us everything about him.
Augustus was my very first foster cat with Fluff Nashville, and he was a great experience. We felt that the name Augustus was a good match for his personality since he’s ditzy and humorous, like Gus Gus from Cinderella’s Prince Charming. After three months of wandering the streets, this small Persian mix was saved by a kind stranger. My first memory of him was when I went to pick him up and his enormous blue eyes peered up at me from under his carrier.
When I stretched my hand inside his cage to touch him, he instantly began purring. The feeling of falling in love was undeniable!
When we returned home, he reeked of trash and was so hungry that he consumed three bowls of cat food in a matter of minutes.
During the weeks that we fostered him, I sobbed almost every day at the prospect of handing him over to someone else. I had a feeling he was destined to be a part of my family!
Despite the fact that we already had two great cats, Khaleesi and Toogie, I was eventually able to persuade my husband to let me have another.
Gus Gus was a complete failure as a foster kitten! The Fitzpatricks, on the other hand, have a limit of three cats.
Since then, my husband and I have fostered approximately thirty kittens and have yet to fail.
Gus is the sweetest of them all! He goes down the stairs every day after work to meet me, meowing the whole time.
He’s the embodiment of my fear. Gus Gus follows me everywhere I go.
He continuously follows me around the home, begging for attention and pats. He enjoys sleeping close to me, particularly on my pillow, which he wraps around my head.
He likes my spouse as well, but he is clearly a mama’s boy.
Gus seems to be rather large, however he is nothing but fluff! He’s very little, weighing just approximately 7 pounds.
Gus Gus’ age is unknown, although the vet believes he is between the ages of 4-6.
In his Halloween costumes, he enjoys attracting attention and applause!
I believe he’s quite gorgeous when he’s dressed up. Everyone who meets him is immediately smitten!
He’s never met a stranger in his life. Everyone is greeted by Sweet Gus Gus as soon as they walk through the door.
He’s a tremendous hit with our visitors, the veterinarian, and the cat groomer. Gus has given us so much happiness and laughter, and he has completely completed our little family.
Gus Gus is a lovely cat, but keep in mind that he is a rescue cat. and we’re big supporters of adopting a stray cat from a shelter.
If you’re thinking about adopting a certain cat breed, look into local rescue organizations first before going to a breeder.
There are a lot of purebred cats who have been surrendered to shelters or rescue organizations and are looking for loving permanent homes.
