Lions have long been regarded as the jungle’s monarchs. They are powerful and magnificent due to their manes and roar. But did you know that these gigantic creatures can also be playful? These photos of a lioness smiling while mating with her cubs, or a lioness fighting with her cubs, are just incredible.
Gren Sowerby (the photographer’s name) came upon the playful lion while capturing wild animals in Kenya’s Maasai Mara National Reserve. The guy was around 40-50 feet away from the gorgeous lion.
The 69-year-old photojournalist from the United Kingdom was taken aback by the beast’s massive roar at first. However, his grins a minute later astounded him. He quickly recognized that this was a once-in-a-lifetime chance!
On his camera, the seasoned photographer recorded the big animal’s grins. He was overjoyed to be confronted with the “shock of his life.” Few photographers were able to capture the ruler of the forest smiling. He was one of the fortunate ones.
Sowerby told the South West News Service, “I lent in to snap a shot when he let out a big scream – I got the fright of my life.” “He yelled, “I’m the King of the Jungle,” and then he grinned at me as someone winks at you to say, ‘Haha!'”
When Sowerby posted these photographs on his social media accounts, they quickly went viral. A magnificent lion smiles! He’s producing his own Disney movies.
